FAQ
Who is TargetStream?
TargetStream Technologies LLC is a limited liability corporation that specializes in the development of software products that enable companies to present their print stream data online.
What do TargetStream products and services do?
Our products concentrate on IBM's AFP (Advanced Function Presentation) print stream technology. We have products that are capable of "mining", "parsing", and "web-enabling" AFP print stream information. Our services focus on facilitating the delivery and presentation of print stream data. We provide consulting, and custom software development to help your organization render print stream data for you applications. We also provide hosting for companies that prefer to leverage TargetStream's expertise to web enable their print stream data.
How are TargetStream products used?
TargetStream products are used by businesses that have AFP print stream data that they would like to have web enabled. Some business want to web enable their AFP data for online bill presentment, online statements, and online reports. The AFP data is indexed, retrieved, and converted to an Adobe PDF document so that the document can be rendered online with the full fidelity of the printed image.
How do TargetStream the products work?
TargetStream products work by indexing, retrieving and converting print stream data. StreamIndex mines the AFP for key information so that the AFP can later be retrieved by its index. StreamDDB facilitates the retrieval of the AFP from the storage system. StreamDDB uses connectors to access the AFP storage system. Connectors are available to integrate with IBM's Content Manager-OnDemand and StreamIndex. StreamA2P converts AFP data to PDF documents.
Do TargetStream the products integrate with other vendors products?
TargetStream products obviously integrate and work well with one another, however they were all architected to be used as plug and play components with other vendor's solutions in this space. For example a company could use IBM's Content Manager OnDemand (for document indexing and storage), IBM's OnDemand Web Enablement Kit (for document retrieval), TargetStream's StreamDDB (for failover/load balancing), and TargetStream's StreamA2P (for the AFP to PDF document conversion). TargetStream products can integrate with IBM's OnDemand or can be deployed as an alternative to OnDemand components. StreamIndex is comparable to Content Manager OnDemand. StreamDDB provides the connectivity to the Document Server like ODWEK plus so many more integrated features. StreamA2P is comparable to IBM's AFP2WEB.
Why use TargetStream products and services to present your print stream data online?
TargetStream products are 100% pure java so they are platform independent and deploy within your existing application server environments. Competitor's products, that invoke native code using Java wrappers, are frequently prone to memory leaks, which can cause J2EE containers to fail. TargetStream's products are created by Software Engineers who have spent years in the industry writing applications to web enable printstream data using competitor's products. It is with that experience that TargetStream recognized the shortcomings of the products that were available and started their own product line keeping in mind how sotware engineers would have to integrate and deploy these products. TargetStream has a staff of experienced software engineers and developers who are dedicated to help you render your print stream data online.
